    Re: super s-32p

I don't have one. They're an arc-powered volt-sensing feeder for use without a remote control and were the predecessor to the Suitcase VS line of feeders currently made. They are similar to the old Hobart Hefty feeders. I see the S32's and Hefty's used in the $400-$700 range typically and older VS models for a hundred or 2 more. I bought a Suitcase 8VS used for $500 with the fluxcore torch and that was a great deal. Sadly, it was stolen before I had a chance to use it for much of anything. Replaced it with a Suitcase 8RC.

    Re: super s-32p

I have a Super S32-P. I've only run it off a engine drive once or twice. (It was supposed to be part of a package deal with a Bobcat but the guy screwed me on the Bobcat, long story)

It runs decent on CV. Not as nice on CC. It does not do well with small wire short arc at all especially in CC. Bigger wire is needed usually in CC and you need to be in the upper range almost in globular for it to run well. Overhead and Vert are a PITA in CC.

My buddy runs his all the time with .045 solid wire in the field for emergency repairs. He can just pack up the machine and get on a plane. As long as they have a engine drive or he can rent one, he's all set. That said, given a choice, he'd usually rather use a machine set up to run a standard RC wire feeder.

I have the Super S-32P and it ran fine with 1/16 Fabshield 21B in CC off a Bobus 225G. Runs pretty good in CV off my Trailblazer too. Ya know.....I don't think I have ever run it with anything other than 1/16 FC wire. May have to do something about that one day.

thanks all you guys on your info and input about these. like i told my wife ive wasted $187.00 on stupider things in my life. i did hook the girl to my old trusty thunderbolt on cc and it seems to push wire at least. cant wait until all this godd$%@m snow quits falling id like to hook it up to the 250 BC and see what happens. another ? is a 251mm a cv machine and is it possible to run suitcase off of it?

    Re: super s-32p

Millermatic 251 is a dc constant-voltage all-in-one mig welder, meaning it has it's own wire feeder built into the machine, so no need to run a seperate feeder with it.

The only external wire feeder the Millermatic 251 can run as a direct-connect (meaning no jerry-rigged custom wiring), is the Millermatic Reach feeder, which looks like a Suitcase, but is not the same thing. The Reach is made specificaly to work with the Millermatic 212AS, 251, 252, 350 and 350P mig machines ONLY. The Reach will not work with any other machines.

If you want to run your wire feeder from a plug-in-the-wall machine instead of from an engine drive machine, the XMT 304 CC/CV is a very good choice and is widely available on the used market for around $1500 average. It can run any kind of volt-sensing feeder or any Miller remote-control wire feeder, as well as Spoolmatic spool guns, with the appropriate controller module.

    Re: super s-32p

If you got that for $187 I wouldn't call it wasted, even if you don't like the way it welds. You would have no issues selling it for at least what you paid if it's in decent shape. As far as alum wire, how big? It might run big 1/16" wire possibly, but I wouldn't want to try small .030/.035 wire in it. Alum really needs either a push/pull setup like DR has or a spoolgun.

    Re: super s-32p

The Spoolmatic 15A and 30A spool guns are direct-connect with your Millermatic 251. They plug straight into the 10-pin torch connector on the front of the machine with no extra controller. Connect the power cable to the hot lug inside the wire cabinet and gas line straight to the regulator on the argon bottle. Pull trigger and the machine will auto sense the spool gun and the digital wire speed meter will read whatever speed setting you select on the gun's speed dial. Spoolmatic 15A works great for me with the Millermatic 350P.

I agree, $187 is a smokin deal on the S32 feeder. You could easily sell it for double that if it's in good condition.

no just kiddin i wouldnt call it a waste either. ive got that problem when you see a good deal you find the money somehow anyway. as far as aluminum welding goes i thought maybe it would be a cheap way for me to weld alum. just not enuf work around here for me to justify a tig of any size.

    Re: super s-32p

I have a Super S-32P and I love it. I used to have a Bcat 225, thats why I bought it. Then I sold the Bcat and bought a Miller Shopmaster 300 AC/DC CC/CV. I kept the wire feeder because I just love the way it runs. But mainly because I own semi dump trucks and heavy equipment. I like that I can carry the feeder into a trailer or anywhere without the power supply. I have only run .035 & .045 S6 wire through it and it welds awesome. I've never tried it on CC. I have 75' of lead cable, a 25' gas hose and a 15' gun so I can pretty much use it anywhere. For $187.00 you stole that thing. New I paid I think $1500.00 with all the options, gun and flow guage. Congrats on a great find.
