do you ever watch American pickers? I like when they fix up the older cars and trucks and leave the old patina paint and surface rust on the finish..it gives the original look to the vehicle..thats not to say if you do a full out restoration and top notch paint job that wouldnt look good too..lol

A local guy has one of those Vietnam-era jeeps with the unibody and independent suspension. He has it restored to like-new condition. He had to buy the unibody from central America, as the US govt did not sell that part surplus. He said it came out of some jungle full of bullet holes.

My cousin has one of those central American jeep repop bodies
    His a cj-6 tub.
Pretty nice metal and built surprisingly well. He paid about 2000 for the body. We figured it would cost that much or more to rebuild the original body and after seeing the new one, no way we could have made it that nice for the 2000 dollars

Came across this today. What do you suppose the chances are the brakes or lights work?

Guess I forgot to take a pic of the whole trailer, and the other side was worse but the guy was standing there and I didn't want to start something. It was about a 25' gooseneck, farmer owned of course. Lol

That kick stand on the rear is a pretty cool idea.

I have been surprised before by trailer lights. Wire hanging all over, 402 connections, splices, and butt connectors between the plug and light and all the lights work perfectly. Another trailer has all the wiring tidy, not a connector in sight, everything looks new, and one little marker light only lights up.

As someone that has rewired trailers and dump bodies, everything is subject to corrosion!

Unless you have straight runs from the connectors to the lights, the wiring is suspect. And the cheepo lights have issues all their own.

When I replaced the axle on my 1983 travel trailer, I found the brake wires pinched from the factory. The original owner must've gone nuts. I found 4 splices from him replacing the magnets over the years.

I was staring at that photo thinking how much safer it would probably be without that! I'd feel more comfortable stacking pieces of lumber than using that setup.

As I drive up on my nine ton the ground pads on the ramps either sink into gravel, or hinge back to allow the loading machine to be the fat kid on the see saw. Sometimes it lifts the rear wheels of the C65 off the ground. It's REALLY exciting as it rolls away. I can speed up loading, or wait, and try again later.

I bet the kick stand is for reducing that variety of thrill.

I control it with wheel chocks, and intend to replace with better ramps.

That's just awesome, and just think how much weight he is removing from his steer tires, they'll probably last forever.

Phone was dead or ida got pics...
Bossman ran the wheel lift under the rear of a seabring and then raised the cable boom and ran a cable through the windshield...
Picked it up (chevy 4500 series wrecker tow truck) and went to take off... front wheels came up instantly. He got on the brakes and thats when the poo hit the fan.. somehow got that mess sideways in the gravel parking lot.
    Was entertaining at the least

Had the seasaw happen back in the late seventies went out to pick up a road kill White cabover home oil delivery truck had an international with a Holmes 600 on it , All was well until hit a patch of bumpy road (I know all roads in NYS are bumpy) slowed down a bit and managed to keep all the wrecker wheels on the ground.

Then at least the owner has upgraded the brakes to 10 inch drums. Those flat hood jeeps only came with 8 inch drums and those wouldn't even stop the jeep by itself. Don't ask how I know. I'm guessing that that Jeep owner also has a newer, bigger engine in it since it has a reverse mounted power steering box on it.

Wow! That guy could have saved some fuel and left the trailer at home if he was not going to use it. Poor truck. Poor car in front of truck. Most of all poor tractor. Looks like maybe no one got too seriously hurt at least.
