I was probably a little too eager to put in the order, as I didn't order any consumables. I've been teaching myself MIG over the past year or so, but this will be my first time laying hands on a TIG unit.

Any suggestions as to where to buy tungsten and filler rod?
Do you have any brick-and-mortar vendors close by?

If not, try WeldingCity, they've got decent prices on tungsten and filler. They have a website as well as being a seller on Amazon, which would probably really benefit a person with Amazon Prime. 2% Lanthanated is what you want, they've got starter kits with several different sizes. 2% Lanthanated is also impossible for me to find locally, IDK why, but my Matheson doesn't carry it and the other two local vendors closed shop.

On a different note, any here tried pulse stick on the 200X? Saw a guy somewhere else claiming he had contacted AHP support and they gave the green light, so to speak. Said AHP told him setup as TIG, 2T, use the hand switch on the stinger.

Well I'm jumping on the bandwagon. Finally buying a TIG for home hobby use. I bought mine from amazon for $680 + $30 shipping. Claims to be the 2018 model. It will be here by the end of the week. Really excited.

Mine just came the other day. Unfortunately, I haven't even ran a bead in SMAW with it yet Been too busy this weekend. Need to swing by my local supplier and get a cylinder of argon so I can use it for what I bought it for. It came very well packaged, and the accessories look fine for now. Good looking unit. PS: There's a lot of good info in this thread that led me to pull the trigger on the AHP. I had originally planned on a Lincoln SW 200.

Would anyone happen to have a digital [pdf] copy of the manual for the AlphaTIG 200X [2016/2017] that they can post - or know of a link to one? Of the three links to user manuals on the AHP website, 1 is a dead link, and the only link to a manual for an AlphaTIG is for the 2014 model. [I'm not looking for anything specific in the manual, I just like to have the manuals for all the machines in one place (on the computer) that everyone can pull up any specs if need be.] Thanks much.

(and if I remember correctly, we never had the manual; All the other accessories were in the box, but not a user manual.)

I have a 2016 Alpha tig 200x that I have been practicing welding aluminum, and it works great. I have used it on mild steel and the arc flashes extreemely bright occasionally almost blinding me, then it will be fine for awhile then flash again. Any Ideas?

Sounds like bad sensors in your hood. What hood do you have

Turn the sensitivity up, or make sure your not blocking the helmets sensors somehow.

DC welding puts out less light for the sensors to pick up aluminium reflects a lot more light. I usually suggest owning at least as a backup a passive helmet. That way you can see if that's the problem and it's nice when your batteries run out
