Looking for some advice on a Miller Big 20. Talking to a guy who has the Big 20 and wants to sell it. It currently does not run. In fact he has the motor completely tore out of the welder and down into component parts. I was told the welder's motor had a knock in it so he was going to rebuild the motor. I was also told the welder portion did weld and the motor was the only issue.
The cuurent owner wants $550.00 for the machine just as it is now, motor out and in pieces. My concerns are does the machine really weld ok or is it going to be a problem too. Not sure what motor, Continental or other motor it has. Thinking the $550.00 is a bit much for a welder with these unknowns and in this state of tear down. I know parts area available for most motors, but I perfer to do the taking out and the disassembly to remember how everything goes back in.
Is this Miller big 20 worth the $550.00 he's asking. Worked on several Lincoln SA200's but never a MIller welder/generator can parts be had for then also... Told it was a 1979 machine..
Any help on this would be great.
