This is a good work truck that is ready to work, a good welder could have the truck pay for it's self in no time.

How fast someone can pay off the truck has nothing to do with what that used equipment is worth today. Just remember, it doesn't matter how much money you spent on it and it doesn't matter how much welding someone could potentially do with it. All that matters is the value for the equipment in the market you are trying to sell it to.

I would love to find a truck that pays for itself. In my world it generally takes a huge amount of hard work and also thousands of extra dollars to be spent on other parts of the business other than the truck. Such as insurance, safety, book-keeping, incorporation fees, worker's comp, taxes, repairs, consumables, more tools, etc. etc. etc. Not to mention the time / money spent trying to find work once you are all set up.

The way to sell stuff for a high asking price is to sit on it and wait while making it sexy.

People like "pretty", so detail it as much as practical. Paint is cheap. I'd consider shooting the bed a contrasting bright color. The white cab and wheels would set that off.

Even people who say they are practical are still influenced by good looks. At the used car lots where I've worked we took special care that the interiors and engine compartments looked good. It's a buyers market, so seduce with good looks and that will get you the $$. New fluids help too. People like clear oil on the dipstick, full windshield washer tanks, supple hoses, fresh drive belts, and that stuff doesn't cost much.

It's a nice truck, but selling is a game.

    x2

It's a 21 year old truck, got to put more work into the add than that.
Not a ton of market for a truck this old, that is 2wd.
I'd part em and sell the welder / equipment seperate & the truck / bed.

I can't make a fair assesment about your truck without the accurate mileage though. and KBB only goes back to 1991 that I could find. Book price and average miles for the year list it as around 4k

    Miles on the truck?
    Replaced parts?
    Original engine, transmission?
    How many owners?
How long have you had it?
    Manual or Auto?
    Clear title?
    Title in hand?
    Anything need replaced?

    Why are you selling?

Better pics of the bed setup, and the interior, engine bay as well.

About the welder: And this is where you could make money....
A 250 diesel, even outside of TEXAS can regularly see 4k if in good condition.
    Year?
    Leaks?
    Hours?
    Maintenance?
Where, and how was it worked?
    Was it worked hard?
    Anything need replaced?

    Length of leads?
    What gauge?
    Condition?

Think about putting a coat of liner or paint on the bed?
Maybe paint the welder up too?
    New faceplate?

A little work and I think you could get closer to you asking price.
    But, your still way over.
Many Pipeliners in Texas don't know how to use the Internet though, and some of them are rolling in the money. It might be what your hoping for?

    Just trying to help

Re: For Sale: Pipeline Welding Rig-Truck

The truck is still for sale and if you would like it for a cheaper price, make an offer. I would like to thank everyone for the time and consideration put into the criticism of my add.

The truck is my neighbors, hes a retired welder who can't work anymore. At the time of the add he was in a bad spot because his wife had bad cancer and they had to amputate her leg. She was "Ok" for a bout half a year but she died yesterday.

The truck is nice, please reply only if you are interested in buying a welding truck.

    Thanks

I just clicked over to the Houston craigslist, and there's comparable trucks like this for $5K and less so that's what you're up against.

Re: For Sale: Pipeline Welding Rig-Truck

Looks like the CraigsList goofballs are lurking here too. What zactlee do they get from getting your Phone #... do they sell it or what... and the crud about ~is it still for sale~ is some kind of scam. I suppose we'll see them offer Cashiers Checks from Nigeria next?

Don't post your email addr or ph # and get THEM to send you their info first. I don't answer any CL reply that won't give me a heads up for that particular item, a real name and a local area ph#.. FIRST. By the way.. the truck is in TEXAS boob. The thread is from TEXAS? Sorry we got no trucks for sale in Nigeria. Where are YOU located anywho? 99.99% of the gmail accounts are bogus too.

Meanwhile your friend has a nice truck, I hope you get a serious reply... seems spendy to me...

I did get a smile... My twisted mind can see a cartoon where the truck is bustin' butt welding along hunched down on the duallys and using the front tires and rear views to hold the stick... and the guy is saying to the prospect... "Oh she'll pay for herself in about a year." Could be? dunno'.
