Best metal cutting chop saw (carbide)?

I really need to buy a good "metal cutting, carbide blade chop saw" and need some recommendations on a good brand to buy.
I also want to buy a good hand held carbide blade "skill saw" to go with it.
    What do you recommend?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Check the previous threads. This topic has had considerable discussion. You are not going to use a chop saw because the rpm's are too high. Blade selection will be more important than saw brand, epecially if you plan on cutting s/s or aluminum.

I have been working over 100 hours a week lately....i really dont have time to go searching though old posts, looking for what i need.
That annoys the $hit out of me when people have the time to say "Do a thread search"..... it would have taken you just as long to actually help and give your input on what brand of saw you like/use.
If you have all the time in the world to surf the web that's good for you, but i don't... i needed to order this thing several days ago, but put a couple posts up hoping to get some advise before i pull the trigger on one.
Im sure someone with all the time in the world will chime in now, with a list a mile long of old threads that they dug up in search and talk about how easy it was...

Thanks for your input... I have used the Evolution and the Steel Max saws and like them both... I am leaning toward the Evolution.
They only make one model, right?
    Thanks,

    I'm looking too.
I'd appreciate the report if you find a blade that works at wood speeds.

    Looks easy but it's not.
I've tried all of the usual metal cutting blades, mounted in what's basically a high-rpm and high-horsepower circular saw.
Believe it or not, a guided Sawzall seems to make the fastest cleanest cut.

So, your time is more valuable than everyone elses?

I just became too busy to answer your question.

If you have the time to respond you also have the time to search.

You got time for ungrateful whining, you got time to look yourself. Can't find what you want, then ask. Don't know how to search, ask. People are glad to help here, but you aren't entitled to sweet F.A.

i never even came close to implying that my time was "more valuable" than anyone elses.... thats stupid. I said that i was very busy with work right now, and dont have the time that a lot of guys have to "surf the web".... but take it however you want bud

Anyway, i have searched this forum and didnt find "a lot" of info... but no big deal... i talked to some guys and tried some saws and i think i am going to go with the Evolution.

Thanks for those who actually tried to help

I have the 14" Evolution and love it. it spins at 1300 rpm instead of 3500rpm of an abrasive saw and has tons of torque. cuts metal like butter. blade lasts a long time if you don't try cutting freehand and snag the blade .

Re: Best metal cutting chop saw (carbide)?

I will throw my two cents in. At work we have three Makita 12"saws. First one we got like over five years ago. Only things that we change are blades and brushes. We run Tenru blades and make sometimes thousands of cuts with a blade. Mostly .065" tubing, but some heavier.
At home I have a Northern Tool 14" and I run Slugger blades now. It is only my second blade in two years of having the saw. I do not cut as much at home...lol.
I have heard great things about the Evolution saws, but have never got to use one. Next blade may be an Evo once I burn up the Slugger.

I only use my 7" Evolution saw occasionally, but it does a great job for me when I do use it.

I have a 14" Milwaukee abrasive chop saw that does a great job too.

Hmmm... I just noticed with my on-line saw browsing that Makita buzzes their metal saws at 3500 rpm.

    http://www.makita.com/en-us/Modules/...ls.aspx?ID=471

    Blade Diameter 7-1/4"
    Arbor 5/8"
    Max Cutting Depth 2-1/2"
    No Load Speed 3,500 RPM
    AMPS (120V) 13.0

Makes me wonder if a Makita blade might be the answer?

    Good Luck

3500 seams to be the norm for the 7 1/2 dry cut blades, not the 14". Are you thinking of putting a 7 1/2" on a 14" abrasive saw?
