Jobsmart Tractor Supply Company $99 mig

So for Father's day TSC is selling this thing for #30 off making it $99.

    http://www.tractorsupply.com/welders...25-amp-1128762

It does not use shielding gas, just flux core wire.

Is this really much diffferent from the Harbor Freight one
    http://www.harborfreight.com/welding...der-98871.html

Is this worth the $100 or would I be better off spending on brazing rods and flux and other O/A stuff for my current setup.

Or maybe wait around to find a few used up microwave ovens and build my own like all those people on the internet

lol read some reviews on the TSC one.

Some people seem to have good luck with the HF unit, but id still spend the money on the O/A.

I have tanks, a torch with a welding tip and a cutting torch and a striker. A handful of blue rods, some silphos and maybe a brass or bronze rod or two, and holding case.

I just bought a set of goggles and one of the smaller magnetic holder sets. I guess I don't really even have a good surface to weld on top of. Perhaps I can just get some fire bricks or something...

Yes at this point. O did it on high school so I am learning it. I picked up this set in a deal and just trying to figure where to go from here.

I suggest a tinted face shield which are more comfortable than goggles and protect your whole face.

A copy of the Oxy-Acetylene Handbook, the older the better, is good. Cheap and common via Ebay.

You can also download good OA books for free:

    http://www.archive.org/search.php?qu...iatype%3Atexts

List the make torch and the number tip (or post pics) along with what you want to weld and the OA gurus (I'm not one) can pitch in with more advice.

Oxy-Acetylene Handbook comes up with several titles. Which one or which authro should i be looking for?

Also, I have Oxyacetylene Welding basic fundamentals by Ronald J Baird and I just D/L most of the really old ones on that list.
