Re: How to prevent "birds nesting"

Hobart threw in a curveball by changing the Driveroll that is included with the 190.

Sam has a photo of the first style that was sent out.

OMG, yes! My boss always wants to know what's taking me so long, it's because I don't know what the F I'm doing and I'm trying to figure it out. I worked 12 hours yesterday and I spent a good 6 hours untangling that damn wire! Then the cord blew up and shot out flames, then it started raining and I called it quits after the 3rd shock!

2 different drive rolls were sent out with the HH190-depending what year you purchased the machine.

Hey Ed Mine is about 2 weeks old, and was drop shipped from Appleton, WI (the factory). I believe that IS the new roller design Was actually the reason I bought it (among others). I liked the knurled roller. The old HH135 didn't have that kind of roller, and it wore out and started slipping badly.

The Trek 180 was a battery powered welder-shortlived.

Doesn't matter- she has the correct drive roll anyway- she doesn't need to buy a new one.

I have a feeling once she sets up the machine correctly all her troubles will go away.

April, keep your mig pliers with you when you're welding. When you stop a bead, before you start welding again, use the wire cutters to cut the tip off the flux core wire. That way you will have a clean start on your next head.

I agree, 30 mins of good advice and guidance is better than posting 1000 posts&replies on WeldingWeb

I wonder what kind of a business that guy (your boss) is running.....
No you have some flux core wire from Harbor Freight.....
You and your boss should go to a decent Welding Equipment Supplier, explain your problems with the extension cord/electricity problems and the machine set-up.
I am pretty sure they can help you out, it may cost your boss a bit more in the beginning, but in the end the productivity will be a lot higher.

Here is one of his last posts. Harry is in Wiliston, in North central Florida (further from you than I thought). Outstanding young welder. You might want to PM him or call him. He might be willing to offer you some training if you came to him.
