That must be a Hell of a monkey that you have to use a lock so big that you can't cut it with bolt cutters. WHY are you using cocoanut oil to try and lube the lock????? That lock is doing exactly what it's supposed to do AND cocoanut oil is NOT a lubricant. Well not for metal anyway.

This story smells like herring to me.

Give the monkey the appropriate sized gloves and goggles, let monkey use the torch. Then post pictures.

    Yeah,

This seemed like a joke at first.

Otherwise, the portaband seems the sensible route.

A photo of the empty cage and the failed lock or mechanism, after-the-fact, would be interesting to see. I wouldn't post one of it with the monkey pictured before the release, as some snitchaholic might call extortion-paid State agents on Long Island-NY, who might try to track you down for supposed monkey negligence as a way to try to justify their own existence.

Re: Emergency need to cut lock

    Yeah,

    That occured to me too.

But, the cocoanut oil, other non-toxic reasoning, and no torch reference is probably due the tendency of a monkey to touch and/or taste stuff.

Too bad he didn't escape , I know a easy way to catch him. Guy I worked with lived in the jungle as a kid, YES FOR REAL ! He told me that they always caught monkeys to sell.
Find a hollowed out tree with a hole in it about the size of a monkey's hand . Toss in a banana , the monkey finds it, he sticks his hand in to grab it. You walk up to him and grab monkey. The monkey will not let go of the banana so he has a fist grip on it. His hand will no longer fit through the hole. I have not tried this , YET !
