I'm gonna start a Go fund me account too....

Seriously, I have a 30XP. Got a very good deal on it thru the HT rep at Fabtech in 2015. It suits my needs and I use a torch for anything bigger.

There are "budget" cutters out there, but like anything else you take a risk when you buy one. The HT is a solid machine and has a great service/support structure standing behind it. Sure, there are comparable brands but I think the HT cutter will have the best resale value overall for that class of machine. I've owned a few different cutters, but think I'll stick with HT if anything because of the service support and they're very popular locally, which means most of the stuff I'll ever need for it is on the shelf at the local weld supply.

    IMHO of course

I've never known how the "Go Fund" thing works but if we can see some type of legitimacy to the endeavor many will donate to it. I would also prefer the PM route for remittance allowing the contribution to be realized by the receiving party directly.

Sure. Would you prefer the I.O.U. on preprinted stationary, or is handwritten on a restaurant napkin good enough?

'' SLOB, Now I feel picked on. I'm old and gray and have the same welding/cutting equipment I started collecting in 1977 as a teenager.''

ME TOO !!! My first Metabo grinder is over 35 years old , Milwaukee portaband shallow cut [ before the deepthroat model ] DELTA drill press even older. All are still going and bought new except the drill press. Quality tools and equipment if not abused too badly last a long time. I bought a MILLER AC Thunderbolt welding machine in 1972 for $100.00 BRAND NEW. I was a apprentice and stopped by the shops local supplier to get a price . Told the guy who I worked for and got it for $100.00 . I gave that machine to a teenager starting out that wanted to learn welding. It still runs today.
Sometimes it doesn't cost too much to go first class. It may hurt at first but you'll get over it.

I can't remember the first name as it's changed hands several times through the years but the surname "Greasy Spoon" has stayed consistent......

    Yeah,

The built-in air compressor of a 30XP AIR is impressive to me.

I mean, the price is high, but the innovation and convenience is high too. Lincoln has similar units too.

I wasn't aware of that either... I've never done one of my own and have never donated to one either.

If an acceptable route for donations can be found I'm still in. If no good online resource works PM me an address too Keith.

What is the available power situation in the garage? Can you support a separate compressor and a plasma?
