That seems like a good idea to try!! I remember when we used to run an emergency tractor Pto cenerator to power the dairy
and was told not to run it idle Always have something using a little power Like a light bulb
    I will try that! Thanks

Yes. The Powerhorse brand of gen. have less than 5%THD. A very expensive ( in my eyes) Generac GP has as much as 20%THD.

Absolutely. Unless there is something wrong with the generator. I know many customers have bought and used them successfully.

A combination like this is much less expensive, more convenient and more capable than a small generator welder that costs 2 to 3 times as much. It's an out of the box idea that makes a lot of pros cringe, but it works and does a competent job. And the generator and a welder, with a 9000w of power and 200 amps of stick welding power can do a lot.

Re: 181 i NOT GENERATOR COMPATABLE

Hi Everyone, I Thought I should pass on what I discovered!
When I tested the power output from the extension lead It was reading way too high! 260v
Throttled the engine back a bit until it was reading 220v And "Know What" the welder worked perfectly,
So I was very happy with that At least the high power didn't harm the welder
    Thanks everyone for the replies

Good to hear the fix was simple.
The welder likely wouldn't weld because the incoming power was out of range - computer saved itself.

Yeah, I find that today a lot of generators there is no correlation between price/brand and quality anymore. Just depends which shift in China your generator head was wound by.
