Alright , I increased my settings a bit on 1/8th. I wanted to see what 130 amps looks like. 300 at 18.4V got me 128 anps..

Those welds are starting to look more like Dan's - are you just going straight like he recommended, or are you weaving a little?

No weaving.. at those wire speeds and amps.. i was letting it rip straight at faster travel speed, Like Dan said. A weave would slow the travel speed and melt too much. If you wanna weave or oscillate, need to run the lower amps like I was before.

Talking about Mig guns again.. the Fusion gun clogs quick with the junk. I did get my Bernard. I got it off ebay for 200 bucks. It brand new. However, when I went to my LWS the other day before the gun arrived, I got a bunch of centerfire tips thinking its what it had. The gun actually has the Elliptical tips. They sre 1/4 turn to lock and I can set the stick out wherever I want without having to mess with the nozzle. Very sweet setup. I ordered a bunch of the elliptical tips. Very similar in size to the Fusion 220 but much heavier lead.

Funny you say that about the junk - I just notced mine needs to be cleaned. I did run some longer beads and the final 10 second display showed my last welding amps and voltages, not the funny readings I had before. Maybe it needs more time to take a reading, so that tacks might not display right. I did have low amperage again, so maybe a byproduct of using my garage circuit. I'll have to fire it up off my generator and see if I get higher amps for similar settings.
PS, nice gun. No mods, right? Plugs right in?

Hey MCM, do you have 120V close to your welder? If you do it would be interesting to see what readings you got running the door settings for 1/8 at the lower voltage, and whether you thought it had the same punch that you got at 220.

Yea, I can plug into 120 for giggles and run the door settings on 1/8 next time out, Np.

The backend of the Bernard is direct fit but I have to modify the plug like others have done. No biggie

I set the Bernard gun up on the machine today. Inside the box was a nifty little plug adapter. I cut the Thermal Arc plug off the Fusion gun and spliced the 2 trigger wires to the proper wires in the adapter. The adapter is a 4 pin with 4 wires but only 2 are needed. I dont know what the extra 2 wires are for. I need to look into that. I didnt have to cut the plug off the gun side which was good. I assume now I can use any gun with a standard 4 pin plug? Dont know. The Tweco #4 backend is direct fit into machine.

I ordered a crapload of consumables, Elliptical tips and Centerfire diffusers and nozzles so Ill be able to try out anything I want..lol
