And, since there are only a few welding forums for the English-speaking world, contrasts and comparisons are worth making.

No welding forum policy makers, moderaters, or forum members are above criticism, in my opinion.

Call that "playing both sides of the field" or "complaining" if you like, though.
I'll note that you were the one constant in that equation though.

I used to own a pretty large motorcycle forum years ago. Moderation was a slippery slope. If you got too controlling it really took away from the feeling of the site and negatively affected it. In the end we found it best to have an almost hands-off approach and would only step in on occasions where people really crossed a line. We were fortunate that the model of bike we rode wasn't popular amongst d-bags so we skirted a lot of crap from that. From the couple years I've been around here I haven't noticed a lot of moderating which I think it a good thing. All I can say is you guys seem to be doing a good job since the feel of the site is positive to me and what little negative I see I chock up to the regular pot stirring people you will always get.

Re: This forum is going downhill! What is happening?

    Well,

Two is not necessarily a trend. And I have yet to see anybody offer a valid criticism of any statement that I've made here or there. I only get ad hominems, e.g. "you were the one constant". Ha, ha, ha...

At least at WeldingWeb, it's usually not for no cause, or without warning, or as a one so-called strike and you're permanently banned. I mean, it the particular thread over there, I was actually defending the site originator and his video on Advanced Pulse/Mix TIG from other members calling his video one that "uses junk machines [i.e., Everlast] to do his weld porn".

It was downright ironic, even a little funny, to me, as before the sudden and permanent ban, a couple of others posters (who are also detractors of mine here on WW) that were attemtping to deride my comments there were deleted (fairly, I think), and my reasonable and friendly dialoge with the OP was left intact. But then I was suddenly and permanently banned for mentioning for the OP that his unit has the AC/DC Mix TIG feature, just like the Everlast Advance Pulse on my 210 EXT. So, my dialoge and and statement were completely relevant and resaonable.

I think the whole thread was soon deleted though, as the moderator probably got embarrased by his own actions.

Many times, Duane, many times. I firmly believe in the line about wrestling in the mud with a pig, after a while you realize the pig is enjoying it!! I occasionally throw my two pennies into the political thread, but overall I just enjoy watching the "mud wrestling"!!

I'm feeling a lot of microaggressions here.

Maybe the mods should add "trigger warning" buttons so I can retreat to my Safe Space!

    Of course,

You probably think moderators are incapable of making mistakes or ever have any reason for remorse... Entertaining, indeed!
