Poweri-MIG 200E MIG Welder any good?

Was looking at this model welder. Looks like a higher power version of the Poweri-MIG 140E 15 amps input on 120 ad 240. thinking i could it on use my northstar 5500 generator that has 20 amp circuits. primarily on flux core wire. for outdoor portable use. already have a panasonic gunslinger261 in our farm shop.

7000 watts of clean power minimum for best results iirc.

I have an older version of that machine that I just plain love. I made a Miller 30A gun fit it and it runs AL as well as any machine I've ever used, you just can't crowd it for the duty cycle. It runs lo-hi purty, too! It's hardly a shop machine but for what you want to do it would be perfect. I've never run it on a generator but I do know that (like Lug says) you don't want to run ANY inverter on any old genset anymore than you'd run your computer on one.

That's partly the whole reason for getting it is to run it on generator for flux core welding for thinner stuff for up to quarter inch. on .035.

I like the fact that I can run on 120 or 240 voltage compared with the klutch , Lincoln machines .

What's your beef here? You have an opinion that counters someone that actually knows what is recommended. Have you something other to say than pure snark? Like, actual experience? I can see it possibly running on fewer Kw's. And I'd be really impressed if you ran it un-fried off a 1980 Coleman or Sears gen....

I didn't mean it that way I don't have any beef here I've been runnin it fine on my generator just fine up weldimg 140 amps. I'm just not going to sell my generator when it powers the welder just fine and it's definitely not no 1980 generator either. lmao. I do value people's opinion like yours and others though.

You take your warranty in your own hands if you 1) Run it off a generator not rated as "clean power" If it does not fry it immediately, long term damage can and will happen with regular use. If you would not plug your big screen TV or computer into it, don't plug your welder into it. 2) Run it on an underrated generator. It is not my opinion, other than the fact that I am the one that figures up the minimum requirements. Which is quite simple, which means V X inrush A input equals surge wattage required of the generator, plus a small allowance of a "fudge" factor due to the fact that a lot of generators maximum output is often barely there.

So, no, No, it is not just my opinion.

The PowerArc 200ST takes 9600 watts minimum.

As far as the hobart, the arc quality just isn't the same, nor is the warranty. But they've got a decent price for their brand.
