    Outboard Motor Rack Support

This is a warehouse that stores and maintains an insane amount of equipment for FDNY special operations and and FEMA Task Force 1.

They have around 30 of these 30 horse outboard motors and rolling racks. The racks have very little support and can tip over easily when pulling the cord to start the motors for maintenance.

There is around 10 racks so rather than modify each one, I devised these little quick connecting outriggers for use on whichever rack is currently being tested.

Was able to make it 100% from scrap luckily because acquiring materials is a big production.

Admittedly after being so satisfied how they turned out I realized I had made a grave mistake and had to add 2” to each one. I mistaked 12.5” in my drawing for what should have been 1’ 2.5”

In retrospect I really should have beveled the plate with the long weld on both sides or put a fillet inside. I got lazy. It may snap off over time from the force of the bolts clamping it but we shall see.

Never the less, just bee d to make some T bolts to clamp then on and off by hand and they should be all set.

Wait a minute. It appears to me that you are showing off those fancy Magswitches.

I had a similar setup I did. I used square tube And cut open one side instead of welding angle and flat stock. I drilled hole in one side, welded Extraheavy nut over hole. Then used Bolt to lock down. Holding up well.

That was my original plan but I did not have suitable tube scrap in that size.

The magswitches have been great I may order big ones.

    All done.

Doesn’t budge at all especially if the rack has motors on it. Just needed that little bit of extra support.
