I just used some Hi Voltage wire I had. Hi voltage wire has a thicker insulation to reduce electric leaks thru insulation caused by hi volts. Check with your LES. 100 ft seems excessive.

As this is just voltage sensing and not a high current carrying lead, any stranded copper wire from Home Depot, Lowes or welding/electrical supply would do the trick. For your desired 100' run I would suggest 10ga. minimum and perhaps even consider 8ga. Unfortunately the parts break-down doesn't indicate the gauge of the original/replacement piece but if you still have the old one you should be able to determine what it is and work from there.

As with Insaneride, I too am curious as to why you need 100' when you can simply clamp to the work piece.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I was just wanting to make a few new cables. I was looking for the more flexible insulation on the wire. Wanted extra cuz I live 3' and 6 inches from the Arctic circle and 3 days horseback ride to town.

you can use lamp cord or any extension cord in a pinch. they are more flexible that thhn or machine tool wire.

If your making 10 to 15 foot cables and have to ride a horse for 6 days then I understand why you want extra. Duane made a good point about using copper for 100 feet but for 15 feet, I used nickel wire. Thats what was on my feeder and I call it Hi Volt wire because it looks like the stuf Ive seen used on 2,000 volt low current supplies. It has the flexible insulation. Pack the old stuf with you on your horse ride to make sure you get the rite gauge tho.

Or check AMAZON for Hi Volt wire.

Heres an example. The lowest volt they carry is 15KV but looks about the same as what I used.
