What requirements to run an LN-25?

Will the blue star 145 on my truck push the LN-25 running 045 flux core?
I have access to a blue star 185 also.

Not sure what the blue star is.

I ran my LN-25 with my Ranger 9.

It required 1 work lead and 1 clip to the work. The clip was voltage sensing. Worked great.

Google search looks like the Blue Star is CC not CV. You can do it with the LN-25. It has a switch to choose. It is a bit more rough on CC. I tried it.

.045 with 140 amps kind of limits you to 1/8" mild steel.

    I'm needing a lot more than 1/8th...

170-190 Amps will get you to 1/4"

I am using the Miller website for these specs since you are using a Miller power source. Double check it yourself. I am a Lincoln man myself. They have a weld calculator on the Miller website.

I'll be doing 1" diamond plate to 1/2" diamond plate..

Or rather a 4x8 sheet of 1" diamond plate, to a loading dock floor that's 1/2", for a ramp.

In my opinion, with the small machines you have available, wire feed will put a hurt on them.

Between the two, I'd take the 185 and stick weld them. 1/8" and/or 5/32" 7018 would work well.

The gas drive machines you listed don't have the ummph to push .045 wire in CC mode. You won't like it.
You need a larger machine (250-300 amp with CV) to run .045 wire all day long.
If you only have the small blue star machines to work with, run 7018 stick with them.

    Per Miller's website:

    Spray Arc Transfer
    1/2" and up
(generally used for thicker metals in the flat or slightly horizontal position)

Wire Size & Wire Feed Speed:

    .045" (1.1 mm) at 390 ipm
    Shielding Gas & Voltage Range:

    98% Argon/2% O2: 29-30 Volts
    Amperage Range:
