WTS: Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 80amp Arc Welder

Okay guys and gals, please no snickering or laughing!

A used like new Chicago Electric 80amp arc welder from Harbor Freight for sale that runs on 120volts ac input. Used very little, in good shape cosmetically, powers on and welds. Has spent most of its time in the box it came in more than it has been used. I dont use or have use for it anymore since I dont weld hardly anymore. Good for light projects and not building ships or skyscrapers. Comes with the welder, carrying strap, work/ground cable and clamp, electrode cable and holder. $65 shipped. Payments by friends and family paypal, usps money order, or personal check accepted.

Although this one has a different part and sku number, it is the same as the one in the link below.

Link to the item on Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/80-amp...der-61749.html

As you can see, they sale for much more there.

Listed on other forums areas as well.

It's a good little machine. If someone wants a tig torch I sell one that plugs directly into this thing. It's the same setup I used to learn to tig weld

Where are you located? I'd buy it if it wasn't for crazy shipping costs.

I wouldn't have any use for an 80 amp stick welder, but stratch tig would be cool. and very portable.

Arc force provides 15% over current when the electrode enters the bath? Dang, I want one that shuts off when it falls in the tub.

$65. shipped is a great deal. We sold one with upgraded leads and work clamp to my brother-in-law for $100., though you guys would have gotten a better price, LOL. I did subsequently get another one in a screaming good deal just to have around.

I already have a tig torch w/gas valve...
Can't I just cut the stinger lead and connect it to the power block connector on the torch?

I don't ever plan to stick weld with this thing... I have other machines for that.

I just want it for portable tig.... In case grandmas sewing machine breaks, I can go weld it in her living room.

Can you install a dinse connector onto the end of your tig torch lead that would plug straight into this machine? Or if you have a cable lug on the end of the lead, you could just clamp onto it with a rod holder. Maybe not with the rod holder included with this machine but a Tweeco or copy of it. Or like you say, remove the rod holder and attach the end of the cable by whatever means to the power block of the torch.

    Yeah, I'll figure something out.
I used it on my Idealarc before I bought an HTP I just ran an extra cable to the hot lead on the welder.

Dinse plug would be the cleanest setup though...

you can. i may have a small 10/25 dinse that i can sell you and that would be the easiest way if you have have a 2 piece cable. If not I can just sell you an entire gas valve torch, cable and dinse ready to go for $75

    yep. could do that...
but rather wrap that connection tight with a rubber boot or such... then plug the other end into the machine.

I'm not exactly a worry wart, but It would be a little safer...

not a big deal... just thinkin out loud.

most likely I'll just ditch the stinger and use that cable/dinse.... and wrap the powerblock...

thats how I did it on the lincoln.

After seeing the pic of the setup, I agree. Attach the stinger to the power block.

I've seen people cut up a soda (or pop depending on your location ) bottle and run the torch cable through the top of th bottle. Then clamp the stinger to the power block through the now open bottom of the bottle. It offers some protection against electrocution.

Jody showed how to do that over on his website.
