How do u charge when a turbo bolt breaks off taking it out?

Taking off the turbo on a sprinter. It's a turbo diesel. He told me he would charge me 10$ per bolt I break. When I was taking this bolt out it got tight about 3 turns out then snap. Lucky it didn't make it harder to take apart. So I told him I'd take it home and weld it but I wanted the customer to pay me. Got it out and it took at least 20-30 minutes. Trying nuts in there wich all failed. But results were just welding a arm sticking out and I pounded on it with a piece of 3/4 rod. Broke couple times but after working it back and fourth it came out to the point I could put vise grips on it. Is there somthing I could have done to now have the bolt break like penetrating oil? Should I ask for some money? Only charged 50$ to take out the turbo and most the plastics were taken off. Transmission came out too and that made it easier to get to the manifold bolts. I have a 2 hour minimum, so $150. If it were inside another job I might just tack on a half hour, $37.50.

If it came out 3 turns and started sticking, put some anti-seize on it and run it back in. If it comes out 4 turns, put more anti-seize on it and back in again. Keep doing that until it, hopefully, comes out.

When theres a chance of this happening on one im doing,
I let the customer know that its out of my hands.. ill do it for a fair price, but NOT free..
Drills, nuts, anti-seize, time...all cost money
Bill them at the hourly rate for however many hours plus anything needed to do the job.

I always put the heat to suspect areas before attempting to just spin it out.

    If not.......see what happens?

Ok if he doesn't budge I'll make sure I get a good meal in from his wife in the kitchen who hardly knows any English. I try and squeeze him or the customer for 15 bucks

Always be sure to put the PROPER SIZE TAP back thru the problem hole.
Or any hole for that matter.

Agree with Zap, if you can put heat to it they'll usually come out.

hmm, so tap the wifes hole and get a good meal from the customer..sounds good to me..LOL...as others have said..heat is your friend, usually heating the broken bolt and then giving a few shots of penetrating oil works pretty good, seems the heat helps the oil get sucked into the threads...if you want o be nice you can reassemble with anti seize on the new bolts....so the next time it wont happen again..
