Small bench top drill press, need something to hold pieces in place while drilling

I know there is a name for what I am looking for, but I have gotten CRS disease and
    can't think of it.
Mainly for smaller round stuff like tubing/pipe, flat I could just clamp to the base if I have to.

    Thanks,
    Russ

Maybe a vise or C-Clamp? There is a vise grip looking thing that fits in the slots as well.

I use the attached clamp a lot.

I made something similar to this for drilling holes in the center of pipe/tube.

I am sorry, I read over the part where you wanted to clamp round stuff.

    Try drill press vice.

    there are just vices, https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...ise-30999.html

and there are vices with X and Y moment, there nice https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...ise-69159.html

they take up more room in height tho, but to line up a bit to the center punch mark, is much easier,

    another possibility https://www.harborfreight.com/9-inch...amp-36221.html

There are other places other than harbor freight, but posted for example,

I use a Shop Fox adjustable jaw vise. It's been a good vise.

Here's the one I did in the old days and it's still used. I don't have as much money N2 so mine is only ONE angle. :laugh

Here you go. 60 MPH winds and horizontal rain, but I went out to the shop to snap theses pics for you.

Clamp the fixture to your table once the drill bit is aligned with the groove in the bottom.

Your round stock, tube or pipe will now always have the hole drilled through the center. Most times no further clamping is required for the workpiece.

Another vote for this piece. We have one at work for the same reason. The only drawback is there is no way I would try to use my fingers to hold a short piece of pipe like they show in the product picture

I agree with you Pat. On that particular short piece of tube I would use a pair of vise grips to assist.
