Re: Some of my metal art -

That is awesome! I love magnets!

I am running low on geeky stuff but I do have a 1" x 3/4" cylindrical N50 magnet on my fridge that needs a home. Perhaps something like this using heaver steel. Should support quite a large piece...

Those are really cool! Where did you find the wire and crimp pieces - I need some of those for a project I've been working on. Don't worry, I'm not trying to rip off your idea, I have no time!

Wire - ebay, 1/32" stainless steel cable. Crimps - I think ebay as well, but they can be bought in any store that caters to sports fishing.

Is it stranded wire or solid wire - I can't find stranded wire

The 7 x 7 means there are 7 strands of 7-stranded bundles.

Re: Some of my metal art -

Do you drill your magnets or buy them that way? How do you affix them to the cable so neatly?

Professional secret

Magnets come with holes. You can't drill or otherwise work the magnets, they are not metal.

At first I welded the cable to tiny stainless steel screws so that the head would hold the magnet in place.

Then I custom-ordered magnets with two-sized holes - 1mm on one side and 2mm on the other. Then you burn a little sphere on the end of the cable and it will hold the magnet.

Re: Some of my metal art -

Exactly the reason I asked. From what I know about magnets and man-made ones its a no-no to machine or alter their physical dimension. It completely changes their magnetic field "after" they've been magnetized.
