Gals have the Hot Dog Guy, Men now have Corn Lady

Ok, so the hot dog guy has been played to death. I decided to make the corn lady, a new twist on an old idea. Only had regular steel when I made these (other then the food spikes) so they got the rust patina from sitting in my grill all winter. The next set will be all stainless . Its amazing what we come up with when we are bored.

Re: Gals have the Hot Dog Guy, Men now have Corn Lady

Ken,

Corn roasted on the grill can taste pretty darn good. Easy way, is just take the complete ear of corn, unshucked, and put it in some water to soak for a while. Then just put the entire soaked, unshucked, ear of corn on the grill. Cook for a while, then take off and shuck. Eat. Yummmm.

wrench, Funny.

Oh, don't I know that, I've just never seen it roasted without the husk on, I guess I should have been more clear, sorry.

I was putting off the same project because I don't have SS wire for my Mig. I guess I shouldn't let a little rust in my food bother me, you certainly don't!

The spikes that hold the food ARE stainless, the rest is regular steel... no rust in the food ...at least that I have noticed..lol

If you are worried about a little rust in your food... take a magnet and run it through a box of raisin bran/bran flakes... When they say on the box "fortified with iron" they MEAN IT lol

Re: Gals have the Hot Dog Guy, Men now have Corn Lady

On Second Mesa, Hotevilla, Az up near 4 corners on the Hopi Reservation they take indian corn, which is an open pollinated variety and roast it. You might have seen that corn at Thanksgiving in the store, it is the red and/or blue with small ears. Anyways, they soak it in water some and then put the ear with a little stalk and with the shuck still on it down in a sort of pit where it steams for awhile. When done, you just pick it out and shuck it and maybe some butter and salt. Man that is good eating. .I was about 12 first time I got to try some.
Bet those two little "cooking accessories" would sell well at Lowes, thanks for the smile.

Re: Gals have the Hot Dog Guy, Men now have Corn Lady

Now just top off the corn like I get in Mexico. Brush with the hot sauce of your choice (any one similar in consistency of Louisiana hot sauce), any of the Mexican varieties or even Louisiana hot sauce works good too in a pinch. Then some mayonnaise. Salt to taste.

Dang, now I need to go grill some corn....

We just roast the corn then add some butter and Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, real good just like that!

In some circles, you could combine both into one and multi task, but I don't want to see that here. Lol.
