Opinions wanted on WP 225 G7

Hi Folks.

As you know I've been here a short time and am looking for a welder. The local swap sheet has a lincoln WP 225 G7 listed and while going this route wasn't my first intention, I have to wonder about what would be a good price for such a beast?

The seller has it listed for $950, which seems a bit steep for a machine that could be realatively old and is not exactly a top of the line machine. With motor driven welders what is considered to be excessive run time for such a machine? 2000 hours 5000 or what? Also what is the history on this model, is it generally accepted as being a good machine.

Seriously guys anybody have experiences with this welder or buying used gas welder in general?
