Arc welding simulators

Hi all,

Our Company is a manufacturer and a dealer of the welding simulators. May it be useful in your curriculum? At the present moment our line includes two kinds of the simulators:

- Electric arc welding simulator (it works with low-amperage arc)

- Electric arc welder (it is not a simulator, it works on real process)

The only welding simulator I'm familiar with presently is the one sold by Lincoln Electric. While it is a very pricey investment, the potential for savings is there in an institution that receives a high volume of welders, and they're looking to a) reduce material costs, or b) screen out candidates who are not skilled enough to pass a real-world weld test.

That said, the Lincoln equipment is very advanced, and does a great job with the GMAW process. The SMAW simulation still lacks the realism to make a fair assessment of someone's actual welding abilities.

Fronius has a welding simulator as well, I tried it out at FABTECH.

Dear Supe,

I know Lincoln electric well - I have tried it in Essen in 2009. It's really good and advanced but it's virtual comlex. One of ur simulator uses low-amperage absolutely real arc. It does education more realistic. Second our simulator has real welding invertor and makes real welding process. But during the welding process it has full control of 12 parameters:
welding current;
welding voltage;
arc length;
welding speed;
flowing energy;
angle of inclination of electrode (horizontal) – turn along hand’s axis;
angle of inclination of electrode (vertical) – turn hand up/down;
cross section of welding line;
mass of welding line;
gas consumption;
electrode position on the sample;
signal of additive wire use
Moreover, you can test your welded joints after training.
