I use Airport Glass in Snohomish, WA...probably pretty pricey to have it shipped from here to OR though. You need to find a plate glass supplier near you.

Re: where do ya get glass for table tops?

You just need to keep looking. I've gotten glass tops and shelves done regularly, Even had a special custom made glass vanity top done earlier this year for one customer to replace one her kid broke. It did take a few calls to find someone who would bother with the custom top rather than just a standard square or rectangle, and they had to send it out to get it tempered. Took about 2 weeks to get it done.

Re: where do ya get glass for table tops?

You probably don't want plate glass for a top because of how easily it breaks and because of the sharp shards when it does. You will want tempered or laminated safety glass. Thinking about it, try a place that does commercial windows for stores. They are usually either tempered or laminated glass and are almost always custom sized. We even had one guy who came out to the site, measured and then cut and later installed a window for our Ford backhoe that was either tempered or laminated, I forget which.

Glass is easy to have cut and tempered locally. You need to keep looking.

Keep Looking, a Glass Fabricator can knock this out for you. I use Hackouts Glass in El Cajon, CA (619) 921 5457.

I agree with the previous poster about not allowing glass to metal contact.

Re: where do ya get glass for table tops?

I'm a bit far away to recommend suppliers sorry...

Just a note on what DSW touched on,

Some notes on glass tops.

Annealed glass is dangerous and not to be used.

If your using Tempered glass on a steel table you will need to introduce a plastic, rubber, neoprene element between them, small clear self adhesive bump stops are easy to find and work well. Also if it is sitting on top 6mm toughened will do , have a bump halfway along your long run. 10mm will look better though.

6.38mm laminated is not quite enough though 10.38 will be fine. Laminated you may find easier to source but you will have the Interlayer visible.

Polishing....., "Inline" polishing is the cheapest but you will end up with a sharp corner , easily sanded if using laminated you can sand toughened glass a very small amount NOT MUCH. I prefer "HQ" or "Intermac" as you will get a rounded edge of about a 4mm radius, this looks better and if using Tempered glass will relieve most internal stresses .

Re: where do ya get glass for table tops?

Just a thought but have you thought of using a piece of granite? I did a coffee table and end table for my wife, she was able to find remnants and get the edges polished very reasonable.
