Miller Spectrum 2050 problem wiring
Hello,
I recently used my machine offsite and had to change the plug. Apparently I wired it incorrectly, as it does not start (the machine has less than 10 hours on it). Altering the 3-phase, 400 hookup does not produce results. The machine runs, but an arc does not strike. Any idea on how to fix? My client is freaking out, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Miller Spectrum 2050 problem wiring
So are you going to tell us what wires you are putting where?
You are altering what part of the hook-up now? The receptacle? You are trying to put it BACK on a 3-phase, and it used to work there? Worse case, call 1-800-4-A-MILLER and their technicians can walk you through it. |

Could you be mixing delta and Y 3 phase ?

Re: Miller Spectrum 2050 problem wiring
The Spectrum 2050 is versatile and rugged as all get out. Not likely that you damaged it by changing wiring. Since it is an auto-line machine, the only real choice you have is to run it on single phase - in which case you ignore the red wire - or three phase - in which case you use the red, white, and black. It goes without saying the green is ground.
It makes no difference what voltage you connected to it (so long as it is from 200 to 600 volts) nor whether the supply came from delta or wye - the machine doesn't know and doesn't care. That is one of the beauties of this little guy. We use these tough little machines every day in all kinds of environments and praise them to the sky. If you need any schematics, parts, info, etc., PM anytime. |
