motorcraft dl7078 ports
can anyone tell me what all the ports are on this alternator? it uses a external voltage regulator

Red is 12 volts out. GND is ground, FLD is field and is connected to the regulator.
The Black may not be used. Go find a wiring diagram for a 1980s Ford car or van. between 1969 and 1991. Then match up the wiring, Get a Hayes or Chilton book. |

On some of those Fords the stator terminal was connected to the electric choke thermostat. That way it only heats when its running and also that terminal supplies about 6 volts to the heater. Those heaters open immediately if connected to 12 volts and don't give enough choke to keep the engine running when cold. Ask me how I found that out.
