I put a muffler on my SA200

I searched all around this sit for info on putting a muffler on a SA200, but didn't find much. I figured I'd post this up and maybe it could help someone out.

The muffler is a 9" glasspack special ordered from summit racing. It's 1-3/4 I.D. and cost a whopping $17.

Finished it off with a short section of 1-3/4" exhaust pipe and a rain cap. The paint is VHT header paint from a spray can... time will tell how well it holds up.

It still has that sweet SA200 sound when you strike and arc, but it took away a little of the bark and sounds pretty sweet without being obnoxious. I have been welding in some apartment complex boiler rooms recently and had been getting complaints about my noisy welder. It's far from quiet, but it is less obnoxious and I can say "hey, I put a muffler on it!"

Re: I put a muffler on my SA200

Looks good. I just bought a muffler for a 550 Oliver and it fits perfectly on the
pipe outside the hood. It is a horizontal muffler.

UW30507 Oliver Super 55, 550 ( Gas and Diesel) - Muffler
Replaces part number 161386A and OL-5
Under hood Muffler
For extension pipe use UW30507P
16-1/2 inches long
3-1/4 inch round shell
Inlet ID 1-15/16 inch
Outlet OD 1-7/8 inch

Price: $33.20

Re: I put a muffler on my SA200

When I get my welding deck built and painted I plan on painting the welder black to match the truck with polished stainless doors and a chrome exciter cover. I looked everywhere for a stainless rain cap but I guess I'm going to have to order one off the net...
