TIGWELD 160 SX 110v 220v AC DC TIG

Hi Guys,

I am very excited to introduce a new TIG welder to the LONGEVITY line. The TIGWELD 160 SX is simple to use, does not have all the bells and whistles as our 200 DX line, but will lay down some excellent welds! It is lightweight, portable, and capable of 110v and 220v TIG welding. I have attached the PDF specs on this model and also a video done by Tim Robel!

Looks kind of like Eastwood's 200 AC/DC.

Re: TIGWELD 160 SX 110v 220v AC DC TIG

I think the Eastwood machines are the old MOSFET technology. I hope these
Longevity machines aren't the same. In the video, it didn't sound like the usual inverter machine on aluminum.

Re: TIGWELD 160 SX 110v 220v AC DC TIG

For these two models, the machines are very similar. Except, we cover a warranty for 5-years parts and labor. Although these two models are generally marketed for our customers looking for simple TIG machines, they put down a nice weld.

Internally, they built well. If the options on this unit are not enough, we still have the DX models, and also some new TIG models coming shortly!

Thanks

Re: TIGWELD 160 SX 110v 220v AC DC TIG

How long have Longevity been on business?
I have been a couple of times in their website, but I haven't been able to send a message after filling all the fields. I couldn't enter on their live chat as well...

Another quick question from a stick welder who is starting to tig weld.

What would be the difference between welding with a MOSFET unit and an IGBT unit?

Are MOSFET units more likely to break?

Thank you all.

Hi Marcio,

We have been in business since early 2004. Our website debuted in 2008 and has one revision since. We are in the process of launching a new website that will be more ecommerce and user friendly allowing us to stay better contact with our customers. It will also be geared for heavier website use as our site user base has jumped. I apologize for the issues you had submitting questions on the website. I am hoping we can answer them via email at sales@longevitywelding.com or phone 877-566-4462

MOSFET vs IGBT - there would not be a difference in the weld quality. We have two factories producing both MOSFET models and IGBT models for us and both are under a strict R and D team from our offices in China. Meaning, if you see a machine with the LONGEVITY name it will be made with quality and will be guaranteed for 5-years.

I am hoping that answers your questions. Should you have more, let us know.

Simon

Simon, thanks for your answer.

I just don't get the difference between mosfet and igbt. Could you briefely explain that or poit me to some thread that talks about this subject?

Thank you.

Re: TIGWELD 160 SX 110v 220v AC DC TIG

That was a good article, but I still have some doubts..
Seems like igbt is used when more amperage is needed. Therefore I imagine that these power modules are less susceptible to have problems/defects caused by stress. Would this be right? When this unit is overheating, does it stop working or only the led is lightened?

Another question: I didn't find any info regarding its dimention and weight. Could you post those infos to me?

Thank you very much.

We use a voltage regulating system to insure that overcurrent or undercurrent, the model safely shuts down. Inside, it has auto detection for 110v and 220v power. I have attached the pamphlet for you on the models.

Link to pamphlet: http://www.longevity-inc.com/forum/a...weld_200sx.pdf

The models are backed by LONGEVITY's 5-year parts and labor warranty!

Re: TIGWELD 160 SX 110v 220v AC DC TIG

Simon,

I will have to put the unit on a plane, that is why I asked about the weight and the dimentions.
Is it possible for you to send me those informations?
If you could, send me the dimentions and weight of the package used too?

Thank you.

Great to hear!

Hope you love the unit, besides the appearance. Let us know how it works for you.

Cheers!

Same here, i have been thru a 125 bottle of argon and about 5 lbs of 6011 and 7018 since my 160SX came in. Only complaint here is a better owners manual.

I tried the 160sx with 6010, on 110 volts i ran 3/32 from 50 to 75 amps, no problem. tried 1/8th on 110 at 90 amps, little tough to keep it lit but useable. Tried the 1/8th on 220 from 80 to 110 amps and it ran as easy as 6011. I am a mechanic just learning welding so a real weldor wouldnt have any problem with the 6010, imo

I just ordered mine today. Can't wait to get it. I have been welding since 1970, and never used GTAW. Ordered a 122 cu ft cylinder of Argon which I will have tomorrow.
