11/16 ?
i have had all the materials ready to build a 4x8 welding table.
the steel is cut, have the casters and ready to weld but no top. the problem i have had is to move a 4x8 plate. so i can get a new 4x8x11/16 plate delivered for $735.00 never herd of 11/16 thick ??? |

Probably an overrun from a mill order. I try to order decimal thickness when I can since the price from the mill is better. They usually have a 20 ton minimum to do a mill order. Someone probably didn't need the extra plate, but the cheaper price justified the extra weight.
Long story short: Yes, odd thicknesses aren't that rare. No, you shouldn't buy it, since you're getting robbed at $0.80/lb. |

Yeah, that sounds WAY too high. Even tho its delivered...
I wouldnt do it, personally...

$0.55/lb is a number I've seen recently, but we go through a lot of plate.
