Little father's day gift project

Alright well I wanted to make my Dad something this year for father's day and his birthday (his birthday is tomorrow).

I found the idea on this forum to make a steak brand, since we love to BBQ. He graduated from UM and I'm currently a sophomore at UM and we're huge fans. I thought of making him his initials for a brand but I know he would love this more. (And my cousin just married a seminoles fan so now we can invite him over for a BBQ and brand his steak with the U )

So here it is.

Now it looks the way it's supposed to.

I didn't know what material I should buy to make a nice handle for it, but then I had an idea. I bought this screwdriver from HF for less than $2. I cut off the philips tip and welded it using some small 3/16 rod.

Here are some of the welds. I'm pretty happy with it. I had to fight my welder though, it was having a feed issue which made the first weld look terrible

What do you think?

nice. Thats one of those projects that I plan for my dad too. but I've got to figure out what the brand should be before I can make it.

Looks good to me. I would be happy to receive that as a gift.
