I have a miller 200DX Im running twist lock plugs.

I made a 25 ft cord out of soow 8/3 with twist lock plugs . Is this over kill? how much welder could i run off this cord ?

Best place to buy wire?
What size wire should i go for 50ft power cord ?
What size wire should i go for 25ft add on to 25ft 8/3 power cord ?

10/3 is plenty for that machine.

The 8/3 25' cord will work on up to a MM252

call local electrical shops for prices but copper is $ so Cord is not cheap these days.

The people with welding trucks carry welding lead, not power cord... And it is insanely expensive.

They carry leads because a engine drive welder is to hard to move and doesn't need power. It is expensive because it is bigger to carry the amps.

Re: Best soow wire to run for 50ft 100ft for my welder

8/4 SOOW is rated at 35 amps. I carry 100 foot on my truck and run a 200 dynasty of of it, either powering it with my 302 or using customer supplied power. I have an additional 200 ft at the shop for longer runs. Can probably get away with 10/4(rated at 25 amps) but i don't think the risk is worth it. On a long run the voltage drop might get to be an issue. Sometimes it is easier to run a power cord instead of 2 leads. The dynasty is also a nicer tig machine then the trailblazer.
