Get a 3m brand, model 7502 respirator. Then get the pink filters model 2091. P100 class is what you want. Fits under every hood I have.

Re: need help with picking a respirator that will fit under my hood

It's not the best idea to purchase something like a respirator online, unless you don't have another option. This is like buying clothes on the internets: same reason. Fogging is often due to a poor seal causing air to leak around your nose when you exhale. there's no way to predict how things are going to fit beforehand.

I suggest, take your hood with you. Find the nearest industrial gas/welding supply company in your area. Then try on different models. test for air control. once you've found the one that fits the best, then you can say "have a nice day" to the salesman and look for a good deal online,

I have the same respirator, works great. You can wear it for hours, and it doesn't hurt.

Re: need help with picking a respirator that will fit under my hood

Well I got mine recently, the 3M 7500 series reusable half facepiece but with those hard plastic cartridge filters. Well tried it on, very nice and so soft to the nose and chin, it fits me perfectly but it does not fit under my hood, I guess have to replace the cartridges with those color pink filters so it will fit under my Hobart welding hood.

Got it from Amazon.com

We use the 3M too , remember if you are working in a commercial setting subject to OSHA inspection you must be trained and fit tested by a trained person or subject to heavy fines !!!! There is no buy it and use it . The alternate is to use welding paper masks . John

If use is voluntary, according to 3M those are "recommended" instead of mandated. Since I'd prefer not to die a slow lingering death because my employer is an uncaring or malicious idiot, I'd get the gear on my face ASAP.

I'd not be above lying and saying I was fitted and trained at a previous job if that got them off my ar$e. My safety comes before everything and anyone who gets in the way of my safety is trying to kill me. That erases all moral and ethical obligations I might otherwise have to them.

Read the 3 M guidelines OSHA will come to your workplace and cite you , no second chance ,no i did not know . If a worker calls them they must investigate . If your 300 is above average they will come , fined us 70000 dollars with 40 employees.

Re: need help with picking a respirator that will fit under my hood

Some workers know they'll get fired and blackballed if they are suspected of calling OSHA.

My point is "I'd protect myself first". If OSHA visits and slams the employer, too bad so sad.
In many rural areas, OSHA will never visit.

A professional employer won't have a problem since they'd have deployed a proper program in the first place.
