Pulling an engine - what could go wrong?

I saw this in town yesterday driving around. Driveway on a slope, cinder blocks, wow. There is another engine on the right of the pic, so the intent is to pull the motor.

Re: Pulling an engine - what could go wrong?

Never put a car or anything heavy on cinder blocks!!!!

If you see someone do it take the time to let them know what can happen you may save a life.

I saw a young man and woman doing that one day and took my time to stop get out of my car
and go over and introduce myself and they probably thought I was going to ask directions.
I told them what could happen. The net day i drove by and the car was sitting on ROUND cut off logs.

Yes sitting the round way!!!!

Still not as bad as the day I was driving down that SAME road and saw a man pouring gas
into a car from a gas can with a cigarette in his mouth lit up. I was afraid to stop.

How did i get on this planet????

Always block on wood. It is much stronger under compression. Also remember most Chinese engine hoists have no safety factor built in for lifting and most lifting equipment has a 5:1 safety factor. It's best to use such Chinese hoists on very flat ground.
