Re: Welding job help

Also look at Missouri Welding Institute. Cheaper, little bit less time and you move at your pace.

Re: Welding job help

Guajillo- They are not hiring at the moment at Trinty

Freshintulsa- I can't afford to move and survive out there with entry level job pay. Wish I can but as of now I'm still hoping to find a job out here.

Joe- I dont have the money to go back to school again. I recently just graduated with a degree at the local CC. I wished I really had more time in pipe class to get down the cap pass.

Thanks for all the advice and leads guys. I hope to find a job soon somewhere that wish to take me in. Don't want to think I wasted all the time and effort on the degree for nothing. I know a few of ppl who in the same boat as me with a degree and having a hard time to find a job.

Re: Welding job help

Finding a job is like chasing the ladies. You can not give up , some how you have to find a way.
When you do not have one , you have that look on your face. Once you get one, the look on you face changes. When you have one, more opportunities come around.

So find a job, any job and get to work. Keep busy, work hard . Work on a plan to find a job that meets your needs on where you want to be.

Most Good/great jobs do not happen overnight. It takes hard work/ long hours.

Most Important is attitude and do not give up.

News from ABC's Diane Sawyer
I-635 in Texas is being rebuilt with underground tolls from I-35 to I-45 and is contracted to a CHINESE firm for over $5 billion.

Diane Sawyer reporting on U.S. bridge projects going to the Chinese.... NOT Americans.
The bridges are right here in the U.S. and yet the govt. has approved Chinese contractors to come in and do the work. What about jobs for Americans?
Watch this video. It doesn't take long to view.
The lead-in promising jobs in the U.S. by improving our infrastructure is so typica!
Our tax dollars are at work - for CHINA!

Romney claims wanting to even the unfair trade with china but I question if he will do anything substantial as many of his corporate buddies probably already do millions of $ of business and manufacturing in china. Also he wants to strengthen relations with Latin america. This translates to wanting to ship more jobs to latin america for cheap labor so his corporate buddies get bigger profits.
It should have been mandated that all these jobs for infrastructure be contracted to American companies.

Re: Welding job help

Someone linked me that news couple months back. Sad to see we are outsourcing a big project like that instead of keep it in the US. I guess it's a problem now that we can't keep our work from going oversea cause of the cheap labor rate. Hell even here companys aren't willing to pay top dollar for skilled labor.

Re: Welding job help

Sorry if I said that wrong. There are lots of entry level jobs in Tulsa, but if you're not a beginner, then theres even more for you. There are tons of jobs for experienced people, or those who can just pass a test and are pretty good welders. I think every shop near me is hiring. Most jobs start at 20/hour or more. Tons of welding jobs here in Tulsa. Its the place to be right now for shop welders. Cheap living and decent pay.

Try looking online. You might be able to search some welding jobs that is appropriate for your expertise and is also located near your area. The site have an extensive list available there from welding companies. They provide information also on the kind of person and training they are looking for so try this option as well. You might surprise yourself.

Re: Welding job help

I'm don't know anything about TX but keep beating the bushes till work fly's out. Most comps are not hiring till after the elections for some reason. Call all the steel suppliers in your area and ask them who does what your looking for . They should tell you who they sell ss to . Then you make your self up a resume and take it to them in person. Wait two days then call them and ask if you can speak to some one about doing a fallow up on your resume. Times are tough in this economy right now Good luck

welderinwv- Been trying hard but its so frustrating when people turn me away cause no "work" exp. Im look around for local metal shops to see they can help.

Im have to find something soon or this will be the end of my beginning of welding career.
