New Welder, just got 3G

Hello, I'm a new welder, started this summer in a full-time welding program at Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock, Arkansas. I just finished my 3G cert, and working on 4G currently, all with stick (7018/6010).

Trying now to decide whether I want to be a boilermaker or ironworker. I know I want to travel and weld, I'll be happiest in steel toes, hardhat, and climbing harness(I'm half-monkey). Anyone have some advice about how to pick between the two? Both apprenticeships sound enjoyable, and it sounds like I would get to start working within a month or so. Any advice would be great from people that know whether that's true, or can tell me some pitfalls I might encounter, and the good points as well.

Thanks!

HMMMM... you sound like an iron worker

I worked with a few from my tower days. I thought it was a cool job from watching them. Some really great guys in that bunch. Good luck.
