Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

Put a "T" on it and use two of those little muffler mufflers...or add another on the other end.

I think Duane is thinking the original had a 1" open exhaust and even though those lawnmower mufflers are straight thru they don't allow the exhaust gases to flow as easily as the open exhaust--- That's why they are so loud in the first place.

I don't know for sure either way,but he's probably correct on this. The back pressure could affect the performance.

Onanparts, should be able to answer this one.

The rig is looking great though and ready to work.

OK!
I took off the little muff, and added an elbow for a turn down, with that turn down, it seemed to be about as quiet, or noisy, depending on how you look at it!

I can definitely live with it now as it is, anything is better than the way it was!

Ya know!
The funny thing is, I just ran a few more beads using that Blue Demon E7018 I picked up at the LWS a few months ago for the first time on this welder, the same stuff I reported as crap rods when I was running them on that Tombstone.
I can report that even that rod was running smooth on this welder, and was much easier to start and hold an arc!
I think I am going to like this welder!

Ken, I just re=read the first part of the thread and just want to confirm that the motor you have is a B43E. Correct? With points? If this is the case, I found the original operators manual for that motor. Unless you already acquired one some where else, I could scan and email it to you if you are interested

The motor on the first one is a B43E, Lucky has a P216G!

I sure appreciate the offer, but theres no need, Cummins Onan was kind enough to send me pdf files of the owners manuals, service manuals and parts manuals, so I have all of them for the B43E and the P216G.
after they sent them, I burned a couple copies of each set to CD, so I have a working copy of the owners, service and parts manuals for each motor on 2 CD's and a backup copy of each if needed!

Thanks!

I have been wrapped up in getting other things done, and I have a couple of new orders for GT stuff to deal with this week, so I haven't gotten around to messing with the other hood for this since last week.
I am however going to pin my daughter down in the next day or two and get that video made of Lucky working!

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

Well!
The video turned out to be crap!
Downloading to you tube, it lost its sound, and in doing the video, I had a hard time starting an arc and keeping it going, I was using a used E7018 that I had used just a little earlier, and my wife had to do this video, my daughter was still sick "some kind of flu bug".
But, here it is.
I will see if we can't talk my brother in letting us use his digital video camera next time!

Go here http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...ualsearch.aspx enter your unit code# in the box to the right and download the appropriate manual that will contain the unit wiring schematic.

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

This might help locate the information you need

http://content.lincolnelectric.com/p...S/obsomenu.pdf

If someone doesn't have it handy.

Lincoln Electric should have it if it isn't listed in the above link list.

We posted at the same time Duane--- LOL

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

All this movie making stuff is new to me.
What with the formating and codex and all that stuff, the loss of sound, or clapping noise or whatever that is, might have been my fault, the original on my computer has sound, even though it sounds like we are in a tunnel or the bottom of a barrel, its still sound!

Video is only good if we get to see you set yourself on fire and we get to see you jumping about trying to put it out. Oh Dad, can we get a second take on that last scene?

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

OK!
I think I got the video thing figured out, I was trying to upload an unsupported video and audio format onto you tube!
I downloaded a video converter, one of those free trial ones, and though the video now has their water mark on it, at least now it has sound, although like I mentioned before, it sounds like we are in barrel!

But, here it is!

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

I thought I should update this thread.

I bought a truck and put lucky on it about a month ago.
Today, I got a custom made cover for him and snuggled him in!

The cover is made of semi truck flat bed tarp vinyl material, the heavy duty stuff with brass eyelets.
The guy that made it didn't take in account the muffler spout sticking out, so it doesn't fit exactly right, but since I plan on redoing the exhaust at some point, its all good, and will help keep the road salt spray out of lucky this winter!

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

Cover looks pretty good from here...probably better it doesn't have any opening for the exhaust... Just don't put the cover on right after you finish using it...

Re: Lincoln Weldanpower 225 found dead, will it live again?

Thanks guy's!
I just got my DOT numbers for the truck yesterday, sent in my application into the state about a month ago and they misplaced it, so friday they emailed a copy of the app to me and had me fax it back and they was nice enough to put a rush on it and emailed my credentials yesterday.
I am still waiting for the door signs with my company name on them to get here I ordered from a print shop, I ordered one for each door and a smaller one for the rear of the truck, once they get here, I will be all legal to go out and make some money with this thing!

Well, the welder is about 2 years newer than the truck!

I was planning on doing some body work to the truck this winter, if I can get me a place to do it in, I might repaint the whole thing black, but changing colors on a vehicle is pretty time consuming, so I haven't decided yet!
