Newbie from Alabama

Hi everyone. I had bought a stick welder about 20 years ago but never got around to using it. I recently remembered my father using an old stick welder years ago. I dug thru his storage shed and found a Dynamic Model 75D. It must have belonged to my grandfather. It was made in the early 1940's. The box is nailed together. I had no idea if it would work or not. I found the leads and some old rods. Got a new helmet and got everything plugged in. IT STILL WORKS!! I messed around for about a hour and a half running sloppy beads on some angle iron, I'm going to put a new cord on it. That cloth covered wire dorsn't look real safe. Myself and my 9 year old son are looking to learn to weld and create some cool stuff.

Hi Ya afxcomet and Welcome to the Welding Web Family. Sounds like you need to dig out that stick welder you bought and get some practice in on it. You can go to your local welding supplier and get new cables for that grandfather welder. Several other places such as northerntool or even tractor supply will have the cable.

Hi, afxcomet. Welcome to the web and Happy New Year to you, too! Man, that is one very old welder of your grandfathers. Would like to see a picture of that, no matter how old or crusty looking it may look. Again, welcome.
