Re: New member(need in help)

It's an 11hp engine but basically those numbers tell everything when it comes to getting parts from a B&S supplier.

Re: New member(need in help)

I don't think I do but let me look.

I would hold off ordering one as you can just use a small battery to excite the field to get power output started. Check eBay too as I'm sure you can pick one up there for less than a new one but it may take a little while to find one.

Have you considered attempting to save the old one? I can't tell for sure if it's possible from the photos but it appears it may be too bad.

Re: New member(need in help)

There's the option of using a different used stator too that may be more readily available from one of those local shops.

Re: New member(need in help)

Here's a couple DC only output stators that will fit your engine and I'm pretty sure they would work for exiciter voltage but I have to look into it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

To use a battery you only have to connect the positive to the yellow wire momentarily until the unit starts to produce power. The negative needs to be hooked to the engine/welder frame.

Re: New member(need in help)

The DC only output stator will do the job. They are virtually the same stator but just include a diode to rectify the normal AC current making them a DC output . As such you'll have dual diodes in your flashing circuit but the system won't be affected by the minor additional voltage drop across the second diode.

You could also use either side of the dual circuit stator PN 393474 but not the 10A unit PN 393295 that uses a voltage regulator.

If you choose to check out the eBay option and the seller won't ship to Puerto Rico, let me know.

Re: New member(need in help)

Did you order one yet? If not I suggest you hold off ordering the $60 part.

I just converted my sons' (Brink M.E.) Weldanpower 150 to electric start tonight and the dual circuit stator (one is AC the other DC) I installed in place of the AC only works just as expected to excite the field.

AC/DC dual circuit on the left, original AC only output on the right.

Original AC only stator. I forgot to take a shot of the dual circuit installed but you get the idea.

Starter installed and all back together. Test run proved both AC and DC outputs excite the field just fine should you find a dual circuit or DC only locally. I still have to finish hooking everything up in addition to finish building the battery box.

If you're interested, I'm sure we can come to a mutual agreement on the AC output stator I took out to install the dual circuit needed for charging the battery in the electric start conversion. Shoot me a PM if you are.

Lets be honest Duane. You were just looking for an excuse to "tinker" with that machine again weren't you?

Re: New member(need in help)

Perhaps but the electric start conversion was part of the original plans and long overdue along with a couple other additions Michael and I have been putting off so . . .

Came on a worn out Dixon ZTR mower with a 11hp vertical shaft B&S that was given to me. Actually I was given two of them.

Which reminds me - you don't have to find a horizontal shaft donor engine to get the part(s) you need. The vertical uses the same ones.

Let me know if you strike out on Friday.

Awesome! Let us know how you make out with it.

I don't recall - did you say whether or not all the magnets are still in the flywheel?

Re: New member(need in help)

Now that SUCKS! Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened on these older Lincolns.

Do you have any motor repair shops in the area? If you want to fix it, you're going to have to pull the rotor to get it done. Pulling the rotor is not that big a job but you should check with the motor shop first to see if they can install new slip rings.

Now here's some good news. If they can't make new slip rings, I know a source for new ones (not me).
