Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
To clean it, use compressed air, blow from the nozzle toward the machine (after removing the gun from the machine). The kinks in the liner won't be able to be straightened, the liner needs replaced. Your local welding supply house should be able to get you a new liner fairly quick, or may even have one in stock.

Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
If you pull the liner out lay it out flat on a nice surface. You will see the kinks pretty easy.
The liner should lay straight, without any extra little sharp bends. If you roll it up in a coil, the kinks stand out like a sore thumb. I tried to straighten one once, but ended up just replacing it as I couldn't get it straight enough. Here's an example of a kinked liner. Notice the sharp bend in the middle of the coil.

Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
Not to be stupid but how did you get it out of the rubber protective casing?

Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
On my Lincoln SP 175, there is a set screw on the end of the gun, where it goes into the wire feed block. Once the tip has been taken off, the wire pulled from the gun/liner, the set screw can be removed & liner pulled out.
On my Hobart the end uses a 10mm nut that needs removed. Either way, you have to remove the gun from the machine first. The liner will extend through the cable assembly & into the gas diffuser. How far, depends on the model of your machine. You should be able to download a manual from the Miller site. It will have specifics on how to change the liner. Liners are considered consumable items too. So once you get it replaced, might be a good idea to get a spare to have on hand.

Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
Just re-read your question, the rubber coating only goes about half way up the liner. Your new liner should be similar & have the rubber coating already installed. Really, it's pretty simple to do. Once you've done a liner, you can do it as many times as you need.

Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
Next question will be:
What do I do with the extra liner material that sticks out past the nozzle? ![]() Not sure what page it's on for the DVI, but for the MM251 it's on page 24. Little section in the Owner's Manual called "Cleaning or Replacing Gun Liner". You'll need a 10mm wrench to unscrew the liner from the whip. I use a dremel tool with a cutting wheel for "trimming" the liner. Then a file to "smooth it up".

Re: unkinking and cleaning liner
And the liner has to stick out a specified amount in order to work properly. Make sure to look at the owner's manual for this distance.
