Re: Syncrowave Cleaning and Paint

I'm guessing Miller gave you the good to go on washing the unit. Looks great.

Re: Syncrowave Cleaning and Paint

When I used to service mobile office buildings, we used the garden hose to wash out the innards of HVAC units on a regular basis. The old cleaning solutions were great for breaking down crusty dirt and animal nest grit. Give it a good dose of compressed air at a safe but effective distance and all was well once they sun-dried for half an hour.

Looking good!!

Re: Syncrowave Cleaning and Paint

What paint will you use?

My suggestion is to take a panel to a local PPG paint supplier and get some single stage urethane paint matched for it. PPG came out with a new, lower cost line. I did my MM200 for around $60 for the entire setup. That was for a quart of matched paint, hardener and reducer. It came out great.

Re: Syncrowave Cleaning and Paint

Tape off the Syncro sticker and lose the Miller decal. Buy a new decal, they're cheap.

FWIW, on a job that small, spot putty would work and be easier to sand with a better finish. Gray DuPont Fill and Sand primer works great. Go with the new OMNI line of PPG. Have them match the paint to the backside of the panel before it gets destroyed or dirty.
