211 Gas Regulators?

Guys,
I have reread the 211 manual again, and it states NOT to use the regulator with the other gas types?

Which means, I have to have a SEPERATE regulator for EACH gas type I use.

How do you know which regulator is for what gas type
This wire feed welder is NEW to me, lot to learn on using this machine.

What would the best selection be for gas types? common normal steel welding and (with lots of practice) alumimum latter on.

Right now I have .035 flux core wire (came with the welder) to practice with, I have to get ALL supplies from Reno (200 miles round trip) so I have my shopping list made up before I head out.

For the Thunderbolt welder, I am thinking 6011 and 7018 rods for 1/8" to 1/4" thickness of steel, most common thicknesses I weld, any other suggestions?

Tia,
Don

Re: 211 Gas Regulators?

Ok this is easy, The regulator supplied with the 211 is designed for use with 75/25 gas.
You could try to use it on Co2 with an adapter, but you will find it will freeze after welding for a while. If you are going to use both co2 and mixed gases a lot. You can get a multi gas regulator that will work with all gases and co2 with out freezing.
When a regulator freezes the gas flow drops. and it can get coated with ice.

the regulator is usable with both c25, and straight argon.
