Just Purchased My First Engine Drive!

I just bought a Lincoln Eagle, this is my first engine driven welder that I have ever owned! She arrived this morning and I'm pumped! I have not had a chance to weld with it yet, but I'm sure it will git-r-done!

Thats a nice peice of kit, I often see thlose bolted onto the back of pickup trucks in the US, However it quite rare to see anything like that in the UK. We have little Gensets on Trolleys about a quarter of the size

Thanks! I have no choice! Oddly enough I met the truck driver at a local wood shop, and the guy was nice enough to load it on my trailer for free. I gave him a card, and he asked do you have a portable welder, and I said yes you just unloaded it for me! He helped me out so I cut him a deal.

I've been using a portable generator and an inverter stick welder. It's been good and light weight for sure. I just needed more power and the price of a larger generator was about 400 less than my lincoln eagle.

I've seen those Lincolns turn pink in the Florida sun. Get a cover for it.

We have gensets that are much smaller too, but there's more to a good welding machine than just a plain jane generator.

I think what he is getting at is the size and amount of gas it will take to run it. In the UK they probably pay $6.00 a gallon for gas or more. So you would want a smaller more efficient welder to save money.

Hi Sean, In the UK we pay about double for fuel to what you guys pay

But the bonus if you have a diesel genset, then you can use "Red Diesel" which is a dye colored diesel, that you don't have to pay Tax or Duty on.

You cannot put it in your car because if you get caught, is mega fines and a criminal record, Not nice

I just love those big lincoln sets you see bolted on to some trucks, Lets face it if your gonna have it you might as well go large, I've got that clearly on my most wanted things to have before i die list

Re: Just Purchased My First Engine Drive!

I understand this welder sells for $2900.00ish so it's no where near the top of the line, but it will serve me just fine. It should be fairly efficient since it has the automatic idle feature. I'm ready to find out how long a tank of gas will last!
