Re: Local news

Because of this forum and stories like this, this is why I never drive or ride behind a trailer.

Re: Local news

I have seen an axe head imbedded in a headlight just in front of the driver. It had bounced off a truck, if it had been 4 inches higher it would have killed the driver. There are a lot of scarey things out there that are not tied down properly. Ladders I see all the time not tied down and sliding in truck beds, seen several in the middle of the interstate. I always stay way back from anything I see that I don't like. Saw a car with piece of paneling on top tied down with just one piece of twine. I hung back about 200 yards from it and saw it come off and through the radiator of a cab that was tail gating it. Lucky it wasn't any higher and through the windshield.

Re: Local news

A couple of years ago my wife and I were driving from Fort Worth to Lubbock on 114 when a wrench, at least thats what it looked like, fell off of the storage area on a Semi and bounced about ten feet in front of us. I watched in horror as it flew over my pickup and landed somewhere behind us. Something for everyone to be cautious about. Don't stay right behind/beside trucks. Get past them and get going.

Re: Local news

I have picked up quite a few chains off the side of I10 as well as boomers, I don't mind doing my part and keeping Texas clean - they always go to a better home. I can't help but shudder a little at the though of what 20 foot of 3/8 chain and 15 lbs of boomer would do at 80mph. Everytime I move to pass a flatbed I think about it.
