1939 Oxwelders Handbook ebay not mine.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1939-Oxwelde...item5894203080

If you OA weld or are interested, you want a copy, the older the better. It'll likely go cheap because the cover isn't perfect, but these are for reading!

Re: 1939 Oxwelders Handbook ebay not mine.

Please do scan it and kudos for rescuing the canonical piece of OA welding literature for posterity.

I'd have scanned mine but I don't have the gear to produce a quality book scan. That one's cheap enough to cut the spine if you scan that way.

ESAB really ought to host a .pdf of that year or earlier on their site. Oxweld/Purox still make many of the torches shown!

If you send me a .pdf I'll email it to their customer service.

There will be more, so I wouldn't go over about twelve bucks.

It IS a great read AND well-illustrated.

ArcSpark: Absolutely!

I love old shop books... sometimes it's incredible just how good the "old" school can be. One of the treasures I got from my wife's grandfather passing away was an excellent set of standard machining references dated to the 30's.

There are several copies of this book at www.abebooks.com for under $10. I've sourced a many good welding books and vintage machinery catalogs through this site at a fraction of what they go for on FleaBay.

Excellent link! You sir, are the (Retro) man! I'll forward that link to anyone I know needing textbooks too.

I'm buying the 1929 version for comparison.

The 1939 is likely the ideal to scan since the gear is new enough to be "modern".

Old welding books are neat. I didn't know until I browsed an old Davis-Bournonville book on the Internet Archive that "Radiagraph" electric track torches existed before 1920. They don't look much different today.

Ahhh crap... my phone didn't pop up an ebay notice. I forgot about this thing last night because the bossman worked me like a Hebrew slave and a hot shower, food, and cold beer consumed my brain.

Sorry I dropped the ball.

No strain. Abebooks always has them.

I like that site. Good way to find many book sellers.
