6G GMAW Cert Test
I have to take my 6G today and I'm super nervous. I'll be taking the test with .035 and 75/25. Is there a ball park v/a setting that you might suggest for a good root pass. Any tips or tricks sincerely appreciated. I've scoured the internet and most advice is on stick!
Thanks!

Re: 6G GMAW Cert Test
What code will you be certifying to?
Thanks, Hobo

Have you been practicing? If so,don't try anything new on your test.

Re: 6G GMAW Cert Test
If its 6G then how can it be uphill? Well, some of it yes. But some of down, flat, etc.
Short circuit GMAW for ASME pressure pipe? Are you sure? Eric

Re: 6G GMAW Cert Test
Should have said some of it was uphill. It was a fixed 45 degree around the pipe. And yes, we test with mig. I wasn't quite ready for it. First three passes weren't bad but my cover wasn't so pretty. Didn't even bother getting it cut up. Need some more practice.Never did anything like that before in my 20 years of welding. Gotta get a better technique for puddle control on my bad side of the bottom to midway mark. It was a learning experience though, so not a total loss.
