Any Pow-Con pros out there?
I have 200 amp Pow-Con Power Drive I mig. For some reason It keeps blowing fuses. It will weld for a few minutes and then it blows a fuse. It's not the twist out fuse in the back either. Its this special 30 amp fuse inside the machine that goes. Any clues? I would really like to see this machine up and running. I hear when they're good they're very good but when they're bad they're very, very bad.

there are a couple, and I am sure they will chime in, but in california there is a company that rebuilds them

I think I know who you're referring to. I forget the name but its the grey and blue company I believe. I'm hoping it's a simpler fix.

Yea arc products no longer supports the pow con line. they were bought out by Lincoln electric and dumped the pow con support.

Yep arc products no longer does any support for powcon and the tech that worked for them I not there anymore.
Have u tried running it on stick mode? Run a bunch of beads back to back and see if u have the same problem..... I have the manual for the 200sm if u need it... Does the machine shut down completely when that fuse blows? If so I would also look for a short in your power supply cable or the connections to the power switch inside the machine. U could try calling ArconWelding and see if any of their tech are willing to help you out as their machines are basiclly the same as Powcons.
