do i need Ac welding output ?
hey guys (and gals) ,
im an apprentice in the pipe and steamfitters union , i have been in for a little over 4 years , we do carbon steel pipe welding , and stainless steel pipe. there is also a specialty place we work at that does hasteloy , al6xn , 2205 , 304 ........yada yada ....my question to you is this. I want to purchase a Generator Welder unit for the back of my truck , i kinda wanna stay lincoln , and i see they have the 250gxt , and the 305g of the 2 i really would like the 305 because of the pipe welding , and the chopper technology , but it doesn't have AC. will i miss it ? i know i don't weld aluminum , so my only concern is in case i needed it for magnetized material out in the field. the welder will be mainly used for home use , the generator , to practice on pipe for work , (stick , tig ) but only on stainless and carbon steel. I also plan to do some work for farmers , and the amish up here as well on the side. so given what i have told you , will the 305g without AC be ok for me ? or do i need to stick with an AC/DC unit ? thanks alot - Art ps..sorry for the ramble
