Re: getting the SA 200 ready for painting

What's the hose thing beside your cable lugs, hanging on the frame?

The PO of my SA200 put an electric(?) murphy switch on, only wires run up - but I think there's some kind of sensor or solenoid setup at the oil pressure switch. I'd have to double check. I do know there is no tubing running up to the control panel, and right now the switch isn't functional - still starts/runs without the bypass depressed.

Re: getting the SA 200 ready for painting

As a fellow sufferer that has been recently Murpy'ed I can say the Murphy does two things, It turns OFF fuel when one of two or both conditions exist.

1. High temp over temperature
2. Low Oil pressure

The valve can go bad, if its bad it has a short across the windings, measure ohms across the two terminals, short ts bad.

If you or the previous owners fiddled with the connections fro the murphy relay your wiring can be bad, and yes its possible you have a bad relay, ohm it out its functions.

if the above are good then oe of your sensors is triggering it to close.

the black hose " cold weather hose " is in the factory storage spot, when it's not in use. when in use depending on the year of the machine it would attach to the air filter and then a metal tube that was clamped down to the exhaust manifold and with it in place it would pull hot air and would keep the carb form freezing

60redfacer I thought about foam weather striping after your post and went and looked at it. I didn't end up going with it cause the stuff I looked at really didn't look that durble. thanks for the Idea though. I ended up getting 1/32 neoprem rubber 48x12 for $10 still have more evern after making a new fuel tank hood gasket " the ring in the middle " here is the finished tank mounts. the mounts still need a little tweaking, now all that is needed is to prep and paint.

Yea anytime, got to say your mount look pretty darn good. Just a piece of advise, put a little never sieze on the threads of the bolts. Will make it come apart so much easier 5 years from now.
