HF 165A TIG Output Control Problem

Hey all,

I've got a HF 165A TIG machine 98233. Have had it for a couple months, used it on maybe three small jobs. Amp control has stopped working.

The display reads 5 amp, I can strike a weak arc, but turning the output control knob seem to do nothing.

Thoughts? Comments?

Thanks,
Kevin

I returned the unit to my local HF.

Having purchased the 2yr plan, they replaced it - no questions asked.

The funny part is, the current sale price was less than when I originally bought it -- so, not only did they replace it, they also refunded me $32.

Awesome.

I almost bought one of those a while back, it sounded like a half way decent machine for the price.

Re: HF 165A TIG Output Control Problem

I'll bet a switch for a Honda engine will replace it. The plastic choke handle on my little HF genny broke and I was told it was NLA. I went to the store and found one that fit on a later model and ordered one. It wasn't shaped quite the same as the original so I had to leave the shield off that end. No big deal. It works the choke fine so that's all I need.
